Funding Programs

This chart lays out the eligibility requirements for each PSCOC Funding Program. School districts or charters must meet these requirements before submitting an application. Download the table here.

Standards-Based School/building replacement, renovation, or additions Top 100 of current ranking
Systems-Based

Building system replacement or upgrade. Eligible systems include:

  • Exterior envelope (roof, walls, windows, doors)
  • Mechanical
  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • Special Systems (fire detection, fire suppression, communications)
  • Site drainage and utilities
Top 300 of current ranking
  • ANY system(s)
Identified in the FAD as Category 1
  • Demolition
Abandoned facilities, regardless of rank
Pre-Kindergarten Facilities New, replacement, renovation or addition of Pre-Kindergarten facilities and classrooms Any school facility, must have a Pre-Kindergarten program
Lease Assistance Lease reimbursement for charter schools and district schools School leases facility
Facilities Master Plan Assistance FMP funding assistance Five-year master plan has expired or is expiring soon

How to Apply

To apply for any project type, submit a Letter of Intent to programs@nmpsfa.org detailing your funding request. The letter must:

  • Specify which funding program the district is applying for
  • Confirm eligibility requirements are met (current ranking, wNMCI score, etc.)
  • Establish application request and project scope
  • Provide estimated costs
  • Confirm the district can support a local match

Awards Process

Following application, the process typically consists of:

  • For Standards projects and complex Systems or Pre-K projects, PSFA will conduct a site visit
  • School districts will present their request to the PSCOC
    • PSFA will then present their recommendations for awards
      • Recommendations will include analyses of requests, scopes, estimated costs, etc.
    • PSCOC approves awards and determines award amount for each application/request
  • Once an award is made, the project process commences
    • Planning, design, and construction phases
