Standards-Based Projects
This funding helps pay for building new school facilities, renovating old ones, or building additions. It is only available to schools ranked in the top 100 of the current wNMCI list. The wNMCI score shows which schools need the most help with safety, building systems, and space. The state pays a portion of the cost based on the State/Local Match, as determined by the Public Education Department.

Adequacy Standards & Guidelines
Statewide Adequacy Standards ensure all public school buildings in New Mexico meet basic needs for safety, learning, and technology. These rules guide how big classrooms should be, what kinds of spaces schools need, and how buildings should be built or fixed. They focus on what schools need to teach students well, such as safe buildings, working bathrooms, and the right number of classrooms. These standards also help decide which schools need help first when funding is limited. The goal is to give every student a fair chance to learn in a good, safe space. You can read the full rules in the New Mexico Administrative Code linked below.
